Oral Contraceptive PillThese are tablets containing female sex hormone that prevents the release of an egg from the ovary. How It Works? It prevents the release of an egg during the monthly cycle. A woman cannot get pregnant if she does not ovulate because there is no egg to be fertilized. Oral contraceptive does not provide protection against sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. How To Use It? 1. Start taking the Pill on the first day of menstruation. 2. Continue taking one pill daily at the same time of the day. Follow the directions on the pack until it is empty. 3. Immediately start a new pack when the current pack becomes empty. If taking a 28-day Pill, continue pill taking without any gap between cycles. If taking 21-day Pill, rest from tablet taking for seven days then start a new pack on the 8th day. 4. Continue using the Pill as long as contraception is desired.
